̽̽App (̽̽App) officially opened a new chapter in its story last week, cutting the ribbon on a 12,000-square-foot Welcome Center that now serves as the “front door” to its Marion campus.
Dozens gathered at the corner of 45th and Washington Street to celebrate the inauguration of a space designed to offer what university leaders call High-Impact Hospitality through a one-stop, Christ-centered introduction to life at ̽̽App.
Faculty, staff, alumni, board members, and community leaders attended the ceremony, including Kylie Jackson, President and CEO of the Greater Grant County Chamber of Commerce; Max Engling, Regional Director for Central Indiana for U.S. Senator Jim Banks; and Marion Mayor Ronald Morrell Jr. The program featured remarks from ̽̽App President Jon Kulaga, Ph.D.; Executive Vice President and Chief People and Culture Officer Karen Dowling, Ph.D.; Vice President for Enrollment Danny Solms; and Director of Undergraduate Admissions Roger Alcock, followed by a prayer of benediction from Assistant Professor of Theology & Ministry Charlie Alcock.

The Welcome Center is now the primary starting point for campus visits, offering prospective students and their families a comprehensive introduction to academic programs, admissions and financial aid, student life, athletics, and the values that shape the ̽̽App experience. Previously, prospective and accepted students navigated multiple buildings to address entry-point needs. Now, admissions and financial aid services are housed together, simplifying the visit experience and allowing families to focus on discerning their next steps together.
“Today is not just about a building with a beautiful history, purpose, and foundational structure,” Dowling said during the ceremony. “It’s also about the life within it: those who helped shape the vision, those whose hands and talents created the aesthetic and structures, those who serve here each day, and those who prayed for this effort. It’s also about who we believe God will bring to this space and how we can serve them with intentional High-Impact Hospitality.”
Dowling elaborated upon High-Impact Hospitality through what she calls the five Ws, “guiding principles that define the experience we want every visitor, student, employee, and guest to encounter here:
Upon entering the lobby, visitors encounter interactive wall-mounted and tabletop touchscreens that provide an immersive look into life at ̽̽App. Guests can explore academic programs, learn about the Wildcat ethos, and even take a virtual tour of campus before stepping outside to walk its historic grounds.
The design of the space reflects the university’s broader mission: to guide students from their first campus visit through to graduation, along the way forming them in character, scholarship, and leadership within a Christ-centered academic community.
A highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of a replica Gutenberg printing press, gifted to ̽̽App by Museum of the Bible in 2025 and now on loan from the Green Collection. Modeled after the presses used in 15th-century Germany, the replica commemorates Johannes Gutenberg’s revolutionary invention of durable, movable type around 1440 in Mainz.
Gutenberg’s innovation made possible the mass production of printed materials, including the Gutenberg Bible—also known as the 42-line Bible—the first major book printed in Europe using movable type. The printing revolution that followed transformed the spread of knowledge and Scripture throughout the Western world.
The press is the first of hundreds of Museum of the Bible artifacts planned for display in the Welcome Center’s Bible Experience Museum. Its presence serves as both an educational feature and a tangible reminder that ̽̽App’s foundation is rooted in the Word of God and the world-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As the ribbon fell and prayers were offered, the moment symbolized more than the opening of a new facility. It marked a renewed commitment to hospitality, clarity, and mission.
The ̽̽App Welcome Center stands not merely as a physical gateway to campus, but as an invitation to explore calling, to pursue scholarship grounded in truth, and to join a community unapologetically committed to Christ.
For every prospective student and family who steps through its doors, the message is hopeful and heartfelt:
Welcome home.
