Sarah Jones

Sarah Jones

Professor

School of Teacher Education

Ph.D.; M.Ed.

Dr. Sarah Jones teaches introductory and advanced special education courses in elementary instructional methods, assessment, public policy, and behavior management. She also teaches the phonics segment of the School of Teacher Education’s literacy sequence. Dr. Jones’s classes are designed to reflect the belief that Christ has called all people into relationship; that the primary work of Christ’s disciples is to live out that relationship and break down barriers for others to do the same; and that living out love means creating space for neurodiversity within all aspects of human life.

Dr. Jones completed her Ph.D. through Purdue University in 2014, after completing undergraduate and master's degrees through ¶¶Òõ̽̽App. Her research interests include trauma-informed instruction and behavior intervention, reading instruction for neurodivergent students, and gestalt language processing.

Dr. Jones enjoys talking with students inside and outside the class environment as they explore their understanding of the world and their place within it. Dr. Jones and her husband, Greg, are passionate about mentoring young adults as they come into deeper understanding of their belovedness and freedom in Christ. They are also avid fans of Lord of the Rings, Dr. Who, Star Trek, and the music and writing of Andrew Peterson.
