Commencement is a meaningful milestone for graduates and a special moment shared with the families and friends who gather to celebrate with them. We are grateful you are here—this celebration would not be the same without your support.

To ensure the ceremony remains respectful and enjoyable for everyone, guests are asked to conduct themselves in a courteous and considerate manner. Please refrain from behavior or items that may disrupt the ceremony and follow all guidance provided by event staff.

Parking

Due to the large crowds expected for Commencement, guests are encouraged to arrive early to allow time for parking and the short walk into the venue. Several campus parking lots will be available near the Chapel for guest parking. Please follow event signage and staff directions when arriving on campus.

ADA Parking

Accessible parking for vehicles with disability plates or placards is located in designated spaces near the building, and guests with limited mobility may be dropped off at the main entrance.


Tickets

Tickets are required only for the 10:00 AM ceremony. All other ceremonies are open and do not require a ticket for entry.

Graduates participating in the 10:00 AM ceremony will receive ticketing information via email in advance.

Guest FAQs

Free parking is available in nearby campus lots. View the for parking locations and directions.
The Chapel Auditorium doors open 90 minutes prior to each ceremony.
Guest seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please plan to be seated at least 15 minutes before the ceremony begins.
Accessible seating is available on the main level of Chapel Auditorium. Guests who need accessible seating or who are accompanying someone with mobility needs are welcome to speak with an usher upon arrival for assistance.

The Commencement ceremony typically lasts about two hours, though the exact length may vary depending on the number of graduates participating. Guests are encouraged to plan accordingly.

Guests can expect a meaningful and celebratory ceremony honoring the accomplishments of our graduates. The program includes a processional, remarks from university leadership and speakers, and the conferral of degrees as graduates cross the stage. The event concludes with a recessional as graduates depart the auditorium.
After the ceremony, guests are invited to meet their graduate in the Barnes Student Center (located near the ceremony venue), where you can grab food, take photos, and celebrate together.

For the safety and security of our guests, all prohibited items must be returned to the owner's vehicle or discarded prior to entry. There are no provisions to check prohibited bags or items at the Chapel Auditorium. Guests will be asked to return prohibited items to a parked vehicle.

The following items are prohibited inside the Chapel Auditorium and are causes for removal.

  • Outside beverages, other than bottled water
  • Balloons
  • Use of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes and smokeless cigarettes/tobacco
  • Tripods, monopods, or selfie sticks for cameras/phones
  • Sticks, poles, or similar objects that can be used as a weapon
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Fireworks, drones, or laser pointers
  • Artificial noisemakers (example: air horns, thunderstixs, musical instruments, cans filled with contents, whistles, cow bells, or any other item used to make artificial noise)
  • Clothing deemed obscene, indecent, and or offensive
  • Banners or signs larger than 3’ X 2’
